Monitors the training and clinical supervision of those working towards Texas licensure as behavior analysts.
Responsible for the professional development of Behavioral Health Specialists, including training related to applied behavior analysis service delivery.
May serve as the department director/manager, which includes managing department business functions and supervising other members of the department.
Coordinates and oversees technical consultation to behavior health staff on residents with complex high-risk behaviors that require complex behavior interventions.
Responsible for developing and maintaining advanced data systems to comply with Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) and Department of Justice (DOJ) requirements, including crisis intervention and restraint use.
Coordinates, evaluates, and approves functional behavioral assessments and behavior support plans.
Evaluates the implementation of behavior support plans through personal observation and review of documentation.
Responsible for maintaining knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, departmental and agency policy and for overseeing the development and implementation of systems and procedures to meet the standards and requirements therein.
The work schedule varies upon request or as needed.
Essential Job FunctionsAttends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
Provides clinical supervision, feedback, and evaluation of the trainees' work and skill development to meet the requirements of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board and the Texas Regulatory Board.

Provides or monitors the clinical supervision for the 1500 hours of clinical training necessary to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst for assigned staff.
Provides advance technical assistance and training to staff on the treatment of individuals with complex behavioral, psychiatric, cognitive, developmental, or physical and health-related needs.
Assists Behavior Analyst I's with complex behavioral assessments and treatment.
Designs c accountability systems to monitor progress on restraint reduction, psychotropic medication reduction, and effective positive interventions, including treatment and data fidelity.
Evaluates the development and implementation of behavior support plans and reviews the analysis of trends and patterns of problem behaviors, use of restrictive and emergency procedures, and treatment results performed by others.
Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of Behavior Analyst I's, and other assigned staff to ensure continued professional growth and positive impact of delivery of service to the residents.
Chairs the Behavior Support Committee.
Serves as the Director of Behavioral Health Services in the absence of the Director of Behavioral Health Services, provides after hours on-call support as requested, and informs the Director of Behavioral Health Services in a timely manner and with recommendations for correction regarding any significant issues related to behavioral services.
If required by the facility needs (such as a small facility with no Director of Behavioral Services), manages departmental business functions such as budgeting, scheduling, developing remedial plans to address deficiencies, coordination of services with other departments, attending administrative meetings and supervising departmental staff, including health assistants, behavioral coaches, and clerical staff.
Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.
Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.
Knowledge Skills AbilitiesAbility to conduct comprehensive functional behavior assessments and functional (analogue) behavior analysis and to develop behavior support plans.
Knowledge and skills in applied behavior analysis and behavior support plan development, implementation, and evaluation.
Knowledge regarding medications used to assist with behavior management and systems to track treatment effectiveness.
Ability to evaluate behavioral and program data and to make clinical recommendations based on those data.
Ability to train staff in programming and related behavioral areas.
Ability to professionally supervise behavioral and programming staff.
Ability to work with minimal supervision with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Knowledge and experience in administering all aspects of the delivery of behavioral services to persons with intellectual disabilities.
Knowledge regarding etiology and characteristics of intellectual disability.
Knowledge regarding applicable local, state, and federal laws, federal regulations, Behavior Analysts Certification Board requirements, and departmental and agency policy related to the provision of behavioral services.
Advanced writing skills in developing technical reports, grants, research proposals, and other relevant documents.
Leadership skills in motivating staff and effectively implementing changes.
Knowledge and skills in using personal computers and relevant softwareRegistration or Licensure RequirementsMust be Board Certified as a Behavior Analyst by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board and eligible to be licensed as a Behavior Analyst in Texas.
Initial Selection Criteria:
A minimum of a Master's degree from an accredited university that was conferred in behavior analysis, education, psychology, or related discipline is required; andA minimum of one year experience working as a Behavior Analyst following Board Certification; andExperience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with high-risk challenging behavior preferred; andExperience leading, managing, directing the work of others preferredAdditional InformationApplicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aide, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct and HHS OIG List of Excluded Individuals/Entities.
Males between the ages of 18 - 25 must be registered with the Selective Service.
All State Supported Living Center employees are subject to Random drug testing.
Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position.
The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours.
Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
