The position is a full-time, 9-month appointment that requires teaching, scholarly activity and grantsmanship, service, and student mentoring and advisement.
As the department aims to build a faculty committed to teaching and working with a multicultural student body of adult learners, the successful candidate should demonstrate a dedication to and success in working in varied communities.
The department offers CACREP-accredited master's level programs in clinical mental health counseling; marriage, couple, and family counseling; school counseling; addictions counseling; and a doctoral program in Counselor Education.
In 2020, the department was named the SACES Outstanding Master's Level Program.

Required
Qualifications:
A doctorate in counselor education at the time of appointment OR a doctoral degree in a related discipline and have been employed for one full academic year as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program before July 1, 2013.
Expertise in professional school counseling.
Texas school counseling certification or certification eligibility at time of employment.
Experience teaching, supervising, and advising counseling students.
Evidence of a promising counseling research agenda as evidenced by publication record and presentation activity.
Preferred
Qualifications:
A doctorate from a CACREP-accredited program.
Postgraduate work experience as a professional school counselor.
An established record of peer-reviewed scholarly publications and presentations.
Experience working with/advocating for underserved populations.
Graduate teaching/advising experience in a counselor training program.
Experience with online course design and delivery.
Membership and active involvement/leadership in professional counseling organizations.
Bilingual in English/Spanish.
