Market Contract UW Sr. Analyst (Informatics Sr. Specialist)


Role Description:
  • Conducts financial analysis and reporting for Contract Underwriting functions for assigned markets.
  • Responsible for understanding key drivers of medical cost results in the market, educating matrix partners, and valuing financial impact of actions to mitigate medical cost.
  • Understand competitive position using best available tools to help drive contracting actions toward competitive rates.
  • Partner closely with local Network team(s) to provide analytical, financial, and business support throughout rate negotiations with Hospitals, Ancillaries, and Physician groups.
  • Interface (as necessary) with Sales, Pricing Network, and Medical Management teams to develop competitive product offerings for various segments.
Responsibilities:Responsible for executing healthcare provider-level analytics in support of contract negotiation process and manage associated aggregate results of the market portfolio of contracts:
  • Using key Facility and Pro Fee Analytic Toolkits, assist contracting team members in the value assessment of contract negotiations
  • Effectively influence contracting in a strategic fashion and offer meaningful options during negotiations with a provider.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and deep dives into data as appropriate to support negotiation and provide value to our contracting partners
  • Summarize and explain findings and recommendations.
  • Independently and effectively manage the planning/contract portfolio process for assigned markets and drive the plan to meet overall corporate planning objectives.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for trend reduction and engage contracting to build these into plan where appropriate.
  • Keep management informed as to the progress of Plan and proactively identify risk and opportunities for meeting the plan results.
  • Work effectively with Facility and Pro fee analytical tools


  • Bachelor s Degree strongly preferred; Finance, Economics, Mathematics preferred,
  • Clinical/Current Medical Coding and/or Public Health training a plus
  • Financial Experience (3 years minimum) in the managed care industry or Public Health Care
  • Tactical and Strategic thinking aptitude ability to move between issue and/or provider level specifics to understanding the impact of actions on the market as a whole.
  • Experience working successfully in a matrix environment.
  • Strong communication skills to include written, oral and group presentation.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
